Herodotus describes the following story which is relevant to the olive wreath. Xerxes was interrogating some Arcadians after the Battle of Thermopylae. He inquired why there were so few Greek men defending the Thermopylae. The answer was “All other men are participating in the Olympic Games”. And when asked “What is the prize for the winner?”, “An olive-wreath” came the answer. Then Tiritantaechmes, one of his generals uttered: “Good heavens! Mardonius, what kind of men are these against whom you have brought us to fight? Men who do not compete for possessions, but for virtue.”
Aristophanes in Plutus makes a humorous comment on victorious athletes who are crowned with wreath made of wild olive instead of gold:
Why, Zeus is poor, and I will clearly prove it to you. In the Olympic games, which he founded, and to which he convokes the whole of Greece every four years, why does he only crown the victorious athletes with wild olive? If he were rich he would give them gold.
The kotinos is trance music.
Why did I choose the name Kotinos? I believe that trance music sounds very European and that trance music, especially the tune or synthesisers, sounds very much like the kotinos. Ancient Greek names like Socrates and Achilles sound quintessentially European, in fact, after reading Herodotus’ The Histories about the Greco-Persian Wars, I believe that the Greeks are the quintessential Europeans. Also the kotinos sounds like trance music. To reiterate, trance music is a purely European genre of music and nothing represents the European sound more than trance music, and nothing visually represents the sound of trance music more than the kotinos. How did I find the name Kotinos? Most importantly, I earned the name Kotinos through doing what no other DJ does, that is being right-wing, loyal to Europe, reading 134 books and through pouring my heart and soul, over one year, into a 61k word essay on relative absolution or more especially the genuine forgiveness ((never justification) for the benefit of all indigenous Europeans)), of Adolf Hitler with time and relativism. That is why nobody made the connection between trance music and the kotinos. In fact, in the first place, I do not want to be a DJ. I want something much greater than that. First of all, I want Europe to be united and a very powerful superpower. Then I will DJ. I am English and from County Durham. Although I am right-wing I also voted remain in the EU referendum. The olive tree (Olea europaea) and wild olive (Kallistefanos Elea) are endemic or native to the Mediterranean basin. The kotinos is a perfectly natural European symbol.
Morum fidei virtus et honos.
